We have a team of physicians who routinely perform both inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures in one of our state-of-the-art operating rooms. Our skilled team of surgeons, physician assistants, surgical nurses, certified surgical technicians, radiology technicians, and more work together with anesthesiologists from CCI Anesthesia to deliver safe and patient-centered surgical services.

Surgical Scheduling

Cameron makes scheduling your procedure as easy and convenient as possible. Your surgeon’s office works directly with our scheduling staff, who will then contact you with any individualized information and instructions before your procedure. Our Pre-Authorization team will work with you to ensure your insurance company has authorized your surgical procedure. Your physician’s office staff are always willing to provide any help with pre-authorization or any other questions.

Frequently Asked Surgical Questions

A: Patients should consult their primary care doctor for any questions or concerns, unless advised otherwise. If surgery is recommended or complications arise beyond your doctor’s scope, contact the surgery department.

A: Surgical patients must complete pre-admission testing to ensure they’re physically ready for surgery and recovery. This includes a medical history review, physical exam, and tests such as blood work, EKG, and chest X-rays done five days before surgery and again 24 hours before surgery.

A: Follow any specific instructions from your surgeon based on your procedure. General guidelines include:

  • Medications: Only take medications approved by your surgeon.
  • Bathing: Shower or bathe the night before or morning of your surgery.
  • Eating and drinking: Stop eating and drinking fluids based on the timeline provided by your doctor.
  • New symptoms: Contact your surgeon’s office if you feel unwell or develop new symptoms before surgery.

A: Your needs may vary depending on whether you’re having inpatient or outpatient surgery, but here are some general guidelines:

  • Clothing:
    • Comfortable walking shoes
    • Shorts or sweatpants
    • T-shirt
    • Lightweight bathrobe
    • Comfortable clothes for going home
  • Personal care items:
    • Eyeglasses (if needed)
    • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)
  • Other essentials:
    • Crutches, cane, or walker (if needed)
    • Book or magazine
    • Cell phone and charger
  • Documents:
    • Photo ID
    • Insurance card(s)
    • List of current medications
    • Pre-op instructions

A: Some facilities offer direct scheduling for routine colonoscopies, especially for healthy individuals without symptoms. However, if you’re under 45, a referral from a primary care physician is required.
